Teacher Bios

Karen Brumagin, Principal.  Mrs. Brumagin is a graduate of Edinboro University of PA with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Early Childhood.  She has also been certified through ACSI as an Elementary Principal and Elementary Teacher.  She has served as teacher and administrator at Creekside Christian School, and Girard Alliance Christian Academy prior to coming to CAA in 2011.  Mrs. Brumagin taught third grade, and first grade before becoming principal of CAA.  Mr. and Mrs. Brumagin are active in the First Alliance Church, Erie, PA where they serve on the First Impressions Team.    Mr. and Mrs. Brumagin live in the Wattsburg area and enjoy their growing family which includes seven grandchildren. 


Ruthann Becker, 4th Grade Teacher.  Mrs. Becker is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and she earned a Masters Degree of Curriculum and Instruction at  Gannon University. Previously Mrs. Becker taught at  Erie First Christian Academy, Cornerstone Christian Academy, VA,  and St. Titus school in Titusville.  Mr. and Mrs. Becker live in the Titusville area with their two children.  They are active in the Sparrow Pond Fellowship, serving in many areas of ministry.  Mrs. Becker and her family  are  avid Pittsburgh sports team fans.   Mrs. Becker came to CAA in 2012. 


Kelly Diaz, 5th Grade and 6th Grade Teacher.  Mrs. Diaz attended Penn State University and graduated from North Greenville University with a BA in Elementary Education.  She taught in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and she has worked at the Corry YMCA and Corry Alliance Childcare.   In addition to her fifth grade classes Mrs. Diaz teaches an extracurricular class of Spanish.  She has also taught English as Second Language classes in South Carolina.   She is an avid runner and swimmer. She is a certified life guard.  Mrs. Diaz has been involved in summer camp at Miracle Mountain Ranch as a counselor and Assistant Program Director.  Mrs. Diaz serves in her church ministry in the Spartansburg area.  She has two daughters and lives in the Spartansburg, PA area.      Mrs. Diaz joined our faculty in 2013.


Lucas Johnson, 5th and 6th grade Teacher, and Learning Support.  Mr. Johnson graduated from Edinboro University of PA earning a Bachelor of Science Degree with a dual major in Special Education and Elementary Education.  He substituted in the Union City and Corry School Districts.  Also, he served in the US Army.  Mr. Johnson provides supplemental instruction and support for remedial and gifted students.  Mr. Johnson is active in the ministry of Valley View Mennonite Church.  He leads worship and teaches Sunday School classes. He enjoys running, playing the guitar, and singing.   Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have a daughter and live in the Corry area.  Mr. Johnson came to CAA in 2012. 


Monica Jones, 2nd Grade Teacher.  Mrs. Jones graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY with a Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education with a concentration in English Language Arts.  She also earned a Master's Degree of Education in Reading from the Edinboro University of PA.  Prior to coming to CAA she substitute taught in school districts in PA and NY.  She enjoys ballet and is a pianist and vocalist.  She has been director of a variety of school and church programs.  Mrs. Jones has served in several areas of children's ministry at Corry Alliance Church.  Mr. and Mrs. Jones live in the Corry area with their two children.  Mrs. Jones began teaching at CAA in 2009. 

Carrie Marsh, 3rd Grade Teacher.  Mrs. Marsh graduated from Seton Hill University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Certification in Elementary Education.  She recently earned a Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist from Gannon University.  Mrs. Marsh taught an Alternative Education program for the Sarah Reed Early Intervention Center, taught summer school at Union City Elementary, and substitute taught Corry and Union School Districts prior to coming to CAA in 2006.  Mrs. Marsh taught Kindergarten for 8 years before moving to the 3rd grade position.  She  designs and produces our yearbook and she enjoys volleyball.   Mr. and Mrs. Marsh serve in a variety of ministry areas of the Salt Church in Corry.  They live near Spartansburg.  

Angela Mitchell, 1st Grade Teacher.  Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Geneva College earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.  She taught Preschool at Erie Christian Leadership Academy and substituted in the Corry School District.  She enjoys running, quilting, and crafting and was an author/blogger for    Dr. and Mrs. Mitchell live in the Corry area with their three children.  They are active in the ministry of Sparrow Pond Fellowship.  Mrs. Mitchell has also been a director for summer camps at Edinboro Camp.    Mrs. Mitchell substituted at CAA prior to being hired full-time in 2014. 


Casey Payne, Kindergarten Teacher.  Miss Payne graduated from Western Governor's University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. Miss Payne worked as an assistant in the Corry Alliance Pre School before being hired at CAA in 2014.   Miss Payne lives in the Corry area.  She is active in the AWANA program, Sunday School, and Youth Ministries of the Spring Creek Community.  Miss Payne enjoys camping, playing board games, road trips, and singing and playing with her two nephews.   

Mission Statement:
"The Corry Alliance Academy is an extension of the home and church and is established to train each student in the knowledge of God, to incorporate the principles, examples, and teachings of Jesus Christ in every day living, and to master the highest academic standards the student's ability will allow.   By providing high benchmarks for intellectual and spiritual growth, Corry Alliance Academy's goal is to equip each child with the necessary tools to effectively pursue the vocation to which the Lord will lead, and to apply the tools to extend the fulfillment of the Great Commission."
